Ms Vlasova showed deep interest in research at a very early age, albeit not unexpectedly as she is a successor of the Russian infection researchers' dynasty pioneered by Nikifor Mitin, one of the pilgrims of Russia's veterinary virology research tradition. Ms Vlasova's research of molecular genetic structures, physical and chemical characteristics and etiologic functions of various infectious swine coronovirus diseases led by Lind Saif, Professor Emeritus, Ohio University, are not just unique, but have a significant practical value for the development of approaches and strategy of combating animal infection casued by these viruses.
